Payments
A $50 deposit is required upon booking your date. If you're submitting your manuscript all at once, you'll provide 50% on the project start date and the remaining 50% once the project is complete. We'd hash out milestone payments if we've talked about milestone submissions. All payments are made through a secure payment portal via HubSpot.
I Have a Question About PaymentsWhat kind of romance authors do you work with?
If you write romance—sweet, spicy, sapphic, dark, light, or delightfully trope-heavy—you’re my kind of writer. I specialize in working with indie authors, especially those early in their publishing journey. First draft or fifteenth book? All good. I’ve got you.
Show Me Your WorkWhat’s your turnaround time?
It depends on the service and word count, but most developmental edits and copyedits take four to six weeks of work (business days), depending on word count. Outline Audits have a five-business-day turnaround. I’ll give you a clear ETA before we start. No ghosting. No disappearing acts.
Do you offer sample edits?
Yes. I get it—handing over your book is scary. That’s why I offer a free sample edit for all my services. The introductory service, the Outline Audit, as a gentle toe-dip into my editing pool. It’s a smaller commitment and a great way to see if we vibe.
I Want to Request a Sample EditDo you use AI in editing?
Shelf & Stack does not input, upload, or otherwise provide any client manuscript to any AI system or platform that uses customer content for training, dataset expansion, or public release. Any editing programs Shelf & Stack uses are configured to prevent data retention, and they are limited to identifying patterns (such as repetition, pacing, or grammar checks). At no point is a client's manuscript contributed to, stored in, or used by any system for the purpose of training or improving AI models.
